AutoCAD Tip: Using the new M2P to get the Mid Between 2 Points

AutoCAD Tip: Using the new M2P to get the Mid Between 2 Points

I am not sure if many of you are aware of the AutoCAD MTP or M2P command modifier. It was listed on the AutoCAD Tips web page as
TP00125 (thanks to Lee Ambrosious)

It is listed in AutoCAD's Help > Index > MTP command modifier (aka: M2P command modifier) as:
MTP (Command Modifier) Command: Locates the midpoint between two points

Command line: At a prompt to locate a point, enter mtp

The midpoint between two points (MTP) command modifier can be used with running object snaps or object snap overrides. ( OSNAP command)At any Command prompt to locate a point, enter mtp or m2p.

First point of mid: Specify a point
Second point of mid: Specify a second point

It also appears on the OSNAP Shortcut Cursor Menu (Shift+RightClick or CTRL+RightClick) as:

Mid Between 2 Points

For the typists in the crowd, you can simply type in MTP or M2P (or use _MTP or _M2P in any macro) at any AutoCAD Command prompt that is asking you to locate a point.

TIP: This feature is not a command but it is a command modifier. This feature coupled with a good running object snap setup or one-shot object snaps will help alleviate the need to draw temporary geometry.

History: This feature was added to AutoCAD 2005. This was formally done using the command 'CAL and modifiers like MEE and/or programming... not sure about LT, not a user.
